English summary: This volume explores the meaning of Abba according to Joachim Jeremias and his followers and the actual use attested by texts from Old Aramaic to late Jewish Aramaic and Hebrew traditional literature. The NT scholar Joachim Jeremias explained the singularity of Abba as an address to and title of God, by its origin and character, as and address of little children to their father, and therefore not acceptable for addressing God in prayer. His explication was widly accepted by theologians, biblical scholars and preachers. An examination of the use of Abba within most of Aramaic and Jewish Hebrew texts seemed necessary. The book shows that Abba bears no other meaning but the normal father without any special childish note, as the oldest quotation available with its Greek translation Abba o, pather. German text.
